Jackie Braje as Pavlina Vera

Character Bio

Bohemia born, Pavlina’s parents concocted black market perfumes for a living, raising her in a menagerie of lavender and currant. Pavlina, too, experimented with scents, which were often accidentally fatal. She found her husband, Jakub, a dentist, unfaithful around the same time Czechoslovakia found its independence. Soon after, a scent she gifted mysteriously left him with a neurodegenerative disease causing him to forget why his hands were constantly in the mouths of strangers. She now lives in a Prague salon which she shares with a band of finches. Thin-wristed, moon-pale, a battalion of imagined lives. She admits to thieving her suitors, but always leaves paper cranes in the items’ place.
