A Finishing School for Poetry Whores

This workshop, led by The Madame and Tennessee Pink, is geared toward the development of a genuine poetry "whore" alter-ego through the writing and workshopping of a small body of poetry for this persona. This salon-style course will emphasize the art of discussion, the study of poetic masters, the techniques of poetic craft, generating new poems, and critiquing them. We will not only be looking at erotic poetry, but also at instances of joy, intimacy, and seduction in poetry on a more minute level. These classes may not be suitable for those adverse to whiskey, post-workshop poker, or extreme joviality.

In the spirit of The Poetry Brothel, our instructors are also available for private, one-on-one consultations. These are recommended for those with an existing body of poetic work and a desire for some lengthy, in-depth feedback on it. This is a great opportunity for those who need one-to-one help to really get the assistance they need to bring out the best in their poetry, and it also means valuable experience learning from masters of the written word.

Poetry is an art and can be interpreted many different ways. Learning how to emphasise and use subtext along with the various other concerns like writing stanzas and prosaic descriptions of life, poker, work, nature and other topics can be difficult. Our one-on-one sessions really help to take the edge off the stress of revising, and we look forward to working with new students.
